Marvels of Africa CSR Initiatives and Conservation Commitments in Kenya
Kenya is one of those places that stays with you long after you've left. The wildlife, the landscapes, the people — there's a magic here that's hard to put into words.
But behind every incredible safari experience is a community that calls this land home, and an ecosystem that needs protecting. At Marvel's of Africa, we believe that if you're going to operate in a place this special, you have a responsibility to take care of it.
That's why giving back has always been at the heart of what we do.
From supporting local communities to hands-on conservation work, here's a look at the initiatives we've been part of — and why we believe travel, done right, can leave a place better than you found it.
Our Work on the Ground
While visiting Lamu, we came across Anidan Children's Home — an NGO founded in 2002 that shelters over 150 children and cares for more than 280, giving them food, clothing, education, and a safe place to grow up.
We spent time with the kids, shared a meal, and left with something we didn't expect — a promise.
We told them that any child who showed significant improvement in their class would earn a trip to Tsavo National Park. And when the time came, we kept that word.
But here's what made this day truly special — for most of these children, this wasn't just their first safari. It was the first time they had ever left Lamu island.
Think about that for a moment. They had grown up on one of Kenya's most beautiful islands, surrounded by ocean, history, and culture. But the world beyond it? They had never seen it. No highways stretching into the horizon, no vast open landscapes, no wildlife roaming free as far as the eye could see.
And then suddenly — Tsavo.
Watching their faces as the bush opened up around them, as elephants appeared out of nowhere and the red dust of Tsavo settled on everything — that's not something you forget in a hurry. For us, it was a reminder of why we do what we do.
We believe the next generation of conservationists won't come from somewhere else. They'll come from right here — from kids like these, who just needed one day outside their world to fall in love with the bigger one waiting for them.
Because a child who has seen the wild will always want to protect it.
Why Giving Back Matter to us
Every year, hundreds of thousands of international visitors travel to Kenya and Tanzania to experience Africa's wild landscapes. Many of the children who grow up alongside those landscapes have never had the chance to see them.
