Frequently Asked Questions
The Legends of Savannah Safari can be enjoyed year-round, but the best time is during the dry seasons from June to October and January to February, when wildlife viewing is at its best. These months offer clear skies, easier game viewing, and excellent conditions across Tsavo West, Amboseli, Lake Naivasha, and the Masai Mara, with chances to witness the Great Migration in the Mara between July and September.
For the Legends of Savannah Safari, pack light, neutral-colored clothing, a warm layer for early mornings, comfortable walking shoes, sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses, insect repellent, and a camera or binoculars. Since the safari covers diverse landscapes over 7 nights, packing layers is recommended for varying temperatures and environments.
You can look forward to a delicious mix of local African flavours and international cuisine throughout your safari. Most lodges and camps serve buffet-style meals, but depending on the number of guests and occupancy, they may also offer a set menu with freshly prepared dishes by the chef. Expect hearty breakfasts with fruits, cereals, eggs, and baked goods, followed by flavourful lunches and three-course dinners under the stars. On full-day game drives, lodges often provide packed lunches, which are convenient but come with limited options — typically sandwiches, fruits, snacks, and juice. Special dietary requests — including vegetarian, vegan, Indian, halal, or gluten-free meals — can usually be arranged with prior notice. In general, the better the lodge, the more elaborate and refined the dining experience, often featuring gourmet presentations, fine wines, and personalised service.
Yes, the Legends of Savannah Safari is suitable for families with children. The varied itinerary, comfortable lodges, and engaging wildlife experiences make it rewarding for families, and private safari options can be arranged to offer flexibility, shorter game drives, and a more relaxed pace for traveling with children.
That’s one of the most common questions — and a very valid one! While on game drives inside Tsavo West, Amboseli and Masai Mara, there are no permanent restroom facilities in most parts of the reserve, as it’s a protected wilderness area. However, your guide will plan comfort breaks at designated safe spots, often behind the vehicle or at ranger stations and picnic sites where possible. Morning and afternoon drives are usually timed around lodge stops, so you can use restrooms before and after. On full-day safaris, your guide will advise where to stop for lunch and restroom use. If you’re ever unsure, just let your guide know — they’re very experienced in managing these situations discreetly and safely.
