We use purpose-built 4×4 Land Cruisers for all game drives and transfers between regions. These vehicles are robust, reliable, and ideal for navigating uneven roads and changing terrain — giving you excellent access to wildlife while keeping safety and comfort front of mind.

Designed for the Safari Experience

Our Land Cruisers come with:

Pop-up roof hatches that allow unobstructed views of wildlife and photography

Spacious sliding or canvas windows for great visibility and airflow

Accessories like binoculars for spotting distant animals, comfortable chairs and folding tables for bush picnics, and coolers for snacks and drinks during long drives.

These vehicles are chosen because they enhance the safari experience — not just transport you from place to place.

Comfort & Practical Notes

Ventilation: Most safari 4×4 vehicles do not have air conditioning during game drives so that windows and roof hatches stay open. This allows fresh air and better wildlife views, though on long transfers the vehicle may get warm or dusty.

Seats: The back of the cruiser typically has six window seats plus a front seat, all designed to handle standing and shifting during game viewing.

Transfers: Some safari itineraries involve long drives between parks — occasionally up to several hours. This is part of the adventure of exploring East Africa’s vast landscapes. If minimizing transfer time is important to you, we can arrange internal flights where possible.

Vehicle Support

Despite excellent maintenance standards, challenging terrain can sometimes lead to a mechanical issue. Your driver-guide is trained to address most situations on the ground, and in the rare case that the vehicle cannot be repaired quickly, a replacement will be dispatched as soon as possible.

For city tours and airport transfers, we use comfortable Toyota Noah / Toyota Alphard or similar vehicles tailored to those settings.

Your safari guide is much more than a driver — they are your navigator, naturalist, storyteller, safety expert, and host throughout your journey. At Marvels of Africa, all of our guides are certified professionals with deep experience in wildlife tracking, park terrain, and guest care.

A great safari guide will:

Tipping Guidelines

Tipping your guide is entirely at your discretion — there are no mandatory amounts. However, if you feel your guide has enhanced your experience, customary tipping helps recognize their dedication and skill.

A common tipping guideline for your safari guide is:

$7–$15 USD per day per person
You may tip in USD or local currency, and we recommend doing so at the end of your safari, when you say goodbye to your guide.
